Something told him it would come out in time. Then, to his relief, the man vanished into the back. He turned around and peered at her. Her hand was hovering just under his chin, and then something that he should have realized much earlier hit him. He was shocked, however, at the reaction from the woman. Oh yes, she knew he was a dragon shifter. There had been no doubt in her mind from the moment she saw past the locks of sandy-brown hair, and the coppery, almost metallic-like glint to his skin.
Unless she missed her guess, he was a Metallic Dragon. They all had the same sort of hue to their skin. They had other names, ones based off their breath weapons. Enough to know their type compared to the other, more populous sub-races of dragon, but not enough to be confident labeling him from there. What it did tell her was that she needed to be extra nice.
The Metallic Dragons were, to be blunt, a prickly bunch. Combine that with the glower that had been plastered across his admittedly gorgeous features as he came inside, and Riss knew things were going to be a little nerve-racking unless she could cheer him up.
She had been rooted to the spot momentarily, and tried to cover it up, though she was unsure if her efforts had been successful. There, that answer your questions? Get a grip on yourself, woman. This is not the first shifter to walk into your store. The whole town is full of walking mountains of muscle with amazing features. Why is this one rattling you so much? Could it be the square cut of his jaw? The way he occasionally had to push his hair back to keep it from dragging across his eyebrows and likely hanging just inside his view?
Brass Dragon. He has to be. Riss was used to that. As a human living in Cadia, and an unmated one at that, she was considered to be beneath many of the shifters she encountered. Some were polite, but even fewer were outright friendly. Unfortunately, there are ten thousand others out there that do not feel the same way as you.
She snorted in disbelief. You would become a magician? He glared at her and she cut it off abruptly, shaking her head. No need. What is it with these shifters? Riss was stunned at the level of passion in his voice. Heat seared up through her fingertips and she yanked them back as inconspicuously as she could.
Riss followed his outstretched arm, to where it was pointing at a small curved area at the back of the store. Who the hell is this guy? Things were getting far too intense, far too quickly for her, especially considering how comfortable with it all she was. She had just learned his first name a few minutes ago. Not even his last name!
Riss is a human living legally in Cadia since she has one shifter parent. Can she forgive and forget when the true reasons come to light? I enjoyed this first story in the Dragons of Cadia series where we get a look into the lives of the instructors from Top Scale Academy. If he bashes in a few heads, and gets the girl along the way, well so be it. But they worked well together, have some very sexy moments and battle the bad guys successfully.
The stories are solid, with believable characters in unusual situations. An added bonus, for me, is getting to run into characters from previous stories. I would strongly suggest, however, that you read the Top Scale Academy series as well or alongside of this series.
Oh my, what a good read I could not put down, but you knew from the get go Zander was going to regret his actions. Loved Riss, I am always so happy when the heroine comes across as a clever woman and so sensible, so funny when she tasered Zander.
A really enjoyable read that did not give us any time with our cadets from the academy but we did get Daxxton knocking some sense into Za A very enjoyable read that has Zander meeting a very unusual human woman fpr his HEA, if he doesnt screw it up first. A really enjoyable read that did not give us any time with our cadets from the academy but we did get Daxxton knocking some sense into Zander. This is my honest review of this book. Jan 01, Judith rated it it was amazing.
Gale dragon Zander has been told by his dying mother that if he doesn't find a mate before she dies, she will leave everything to his cousin Kieran. He is on the street and decides he needs to buy a suit. Riss is his salesperson and he thinks to use her to save his inheritance.
Needless yo say roadblocks are thrown up all over the place. Read this to find out what happens. It is excellent.
Dec 25, Chelon rated it it was ok Shelves: shifter , sci-fi , action , dragon. Basic read Quick basic read. Not a bad story the author put effort into their relationship building but the story takes pace over , maybe 6 days.
Not insta love, although they get married at the end which felt rushed. And some of the conversations felt odd, something just felt odd. The fight scene's were very descriptive, but read to slow and boring and there are quite a few. Not bad just,? Dec 01, Samantha rated it it was amazing. This book has it all - Intrigue, chemistry, protectiveness, loyalty, and love. Sometimes it takes a strong willed woman to break through the arrogance of a 'thinks he knows what he needs' man.
Its a windy ride for Zander and Riss, but an incredible one none the less. Dec 10, Cindy Burrow rated it it was amazing. Great read Oh my I was so glad you are continuing on with Cadia. Riss was a great female lead, strong and independent. Zander was also great, and I really loved how he was with Riss. It was pretty easy to care that he really cared about her. I enjoyed following their story, and was happy where things left off for them.
